JOB DESCRIPTION
Solidus is searching for a System Administrator/DevOps Support Engineer.

The successful candidate join a group that creates and transitions advanced technologies for ensuring the security and resiliency of next-generation mission-critical systems. The group's research and development (R&D) in this area focus on a wide range of systems from drones and satellites, to handheld devices and miniature sensors, to high-performance secure cloud computing, to many others. To support the researchers in their development needs the Group IT team manages CyberSec infrastructure and common tools environment to perform secure communications and collaboration, usable security, security visualization, and network protection as well as provide a set of tools to allow for standardization of development processed and centralized location for source code repositories, task management, continuous integration builds and static analysis of the codebase. In addition, individual programs often require an environment be setup for development, testing, or demonstration purposes.

The position is responsible for scoping, planning/designing, delivering and maintaining systems in a security-critical environment based on needs/requirements. The Systems Administrator will play an active role within the organization on a continuing basis and must be able to adapt and learn quickly. Attention to detail and completeness of work (eg, documentation) will be expected.

Duties:
- Translating requests into hardware/software requirements and design specifications 
- Monitor for latest OS, software and security upgrades and apply on the common and program specific infrastructure in a timely manner 
- Provide continuous DevOps support in the production level services offered to the groups within the division.
- Continually re-assess current infrastructure to provide a high grade development environment to Group members 
- Designing software and hardware systems based on requirements/specifications 
- Assist with the procurement of hardware/software 
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in dynamic environments Understand and operate within established guidelines as appropriate 
- Document processes, procedures and solutions 
- Analyze and mitigate security vulnerabilities of the systems 
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in dynamic environments Understand and operate within established guidelines as appropriate 
- Document processes, procedures and solutions Serve as a secondary ISSO on the Group Security plans
- Perform weekly audits

 


Requirements:
- An active TOP SECRET clearance desired.  All personnel must successfully obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Bachelor degree or at least 15 years of experience in IT System Administrations and DevOps support in the areas outlines below
- Significant knowledge of Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) as well as MS Windows domain environments
- Ability to support heterogeneous virtualization environments including multiple operating systems (Linux, Mac OSX, MS Windows), virtual LANs, networking protocols, software routers, and computer security policies is required
- Broad spectrum of knowledge across older and newer operating systems and networking technologies in order to support a wide range of projects and environments
- Ability to design and implement virtual networks, task automation, performance monitoring, and auditing scripts
- Excellent verbal skills in communicating technically complex challenges and solutions involving a willingness to adapt the environments to changing project needs
- Experience in setting up and running S3 cloud services
